Haven’t heard Ed Sheeran’s two new tracks? Here’s your chance!

After a 12 month break from the public eye, Ed Sheeran is back with two brand new songs from his new album set for release later this year. “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” debuted and Number 1 and Number 2 respectively on the UK Top 40 last Friday thanks to both songs helping to break his own streaming record.  Shape of You was played a total of 7,240,930 times in a 24-hour period on the music streaming website Spotify. Is Streaming a Good or a Bad Thing for Our Music Industry?

Spotify. One of the original online music services where users are able to listen to millions of songs at their convenience.  2016 saw a huge growth in streaming music online with over 975 million songs streamed on Spotify in the UK  alone which doubled from 400 million in 2014.  As streaming music increases in popularity, companies such as Apple, Amazon and Sound Cloud have also introduced their own versions of subscription based music streaming services.
