Joseph Junior Adenuga, professionally known as Skepta, is an English grime artist who released his first two albums, “Greatest Hits” and “Microphone Champion”, independently in 2007 and 2009 respectively. After being signed by All Around The World record label in 2011 he then went on to gain significant recognition after the release of his third album, “Doin’ It Again”.

Career Highlights

Before achieving commercial success with his own albums Skepta released two singles one with Jay Sean entitled “Lush” with memorable lyrics including “I’m not in a rush rush, cos she’s lookin’ so lush lush.”  The second of Skepta’s early collaborations was a song entitled “So Alive” with British hip-hop trio N-Dubz.

Skepta chose to release four singles in the lead up to his most recent album “Konnichiwa”, most notably “Shutdown” which many of you will have heard with its catchy rhythm and repetitive lyrics. Another great single taken from “Konnichiwa” is “That’s Not Me” which is a throwback to the early days of the British Grime scene.

After “Konnichiwa” was released in the summer of 2016 it went to number 2 in the album charts and enjoyed critical acclaim and won Skepta “Best British Male” at the NME awards and three BRIT award nominations at tonight’s ceremony.  However, if that’s not good enough…

Skepta will be performing alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars at the BRITS tonight.

While we wait to hear how Skepta gets on here is the link to his Facebook page containing details of his upcoming shows: https://www.facebook.com/SkeptaOfficial/
